With rosters and staff in place, new women’s pro hockey league ready to open training camps

The title of general manager doesn’t completely capture the many tasks on Danielle Marmer’s to-do list in the two months since taking over the Professional Women’s Hockey League franchise in Boston.“It’s funny you should mention that,” Marmer said with a laugh. “I just came from the carpentry shop where I was looking at what our locker stalls are going to be like, and making decisions on where we want the hooks to be, how many shelves — things I’m not an expert in.”She’s not complaining. At 29, Marmer and her fellow GMs are on the ground floor of a newly established six-team league that will feature many of the world’s top players when it begins play in January.“Like it’s pretty cool to say that I have my fingerprints on not only building the team itself, but the building of the locker room, the offices, the players’ lounge,” Marmer said.Though the teams have yet to be officially named and the schedule yet to be released, piece by piece the PWHL is coming together. Next up is Wednes...

Season-long offensive issues caught up with Jaguars in lopsided loss that raises red flags

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — It’s not totally fair to judge quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville’s offense off one game against arguably the best defense in the league. But it’s reasonable to look at Lawrence and the Jaguars after 10 weeks and have questions, probably even concerns.Nothing feels right.Lawrence has more turnovers (10) than touchdown passes (9) and is being sacked at a record rate. Calvin Ridley has been a non-factor way too often. Fellow receiver Zay Jones already has missed twice as many games this season than he did in his previous six years combined. And Jacksonville’s offensive line, a unit that’s been shuffled almost weekly, has opened few holes between the tackles and has Lawrence under more pressure than he’s faced at any level in his lifetime. The result: the Jaguars (6-3) rank 19th in total offense and 15th in scoring a few months after coach Doug Pederson said he believed his team was capable of averaging 30 points a game.Jacksonville is roughly e...

Me parece bien”, dice Silvas. “Pero no así. Esto es ridículo”.México llega a un acuerdo con Estados Unidos para deportar a migrantes de sus ciudades fronterizas mientras un alcalde advierte que su ciudad está en “un punto de quiebre”Hace dos años, Silvas compró 78 acres (31 hectáreas) de tierra en la frontera sur de California con México, a unos 120 kilómetros al este de San Diego. Su terreno está delimitado por colinas y grandes rocas. El muro fronterizo termina a pocos me...

Trump Jr. first testified two weeks ago, in the last phase of the state’s case, which also featured testimony from his father and siblings Eric and Ivanka Trump.“I’d say it’s good to be here, your honor, but I have a feeling that the attorney general would sue me for perjury if I said that,” he joked before embarking on a detailed history of his father’s company.New York Attorney General Letitia James alleges that Donald Trump, his company and executives including his two eldest sons exaggerated his wealth ...

DENVER (KDVR) -- Starting in January, your takeout orders might look a bit different.Expanded polystyrene -- known colloquially by the brand name Styrofoam -- is commonly used in takeout food containers. However, in 2021, Colorado passed a law banning the use of food containers made of the material. Say goodbye to plastic bags, they may start disappearing soon The same law -- known as the Plastic Pollution Reduction Act -- also created a fee for single-use bags at grocery stores and included an eventual ban on single-use plastic bags altogether. What does the ban cover? The new law does not ban the use of the material entirely statewide. For one, it specifically applies to retail food establishments, and only when it's used as a container for ready-to-eat food. Also in the law, what qualifies as "food" includes ice and beverages. And, because the ban is specifically for ready-to-eat food, it doesn't apply to things that were not made in advance for immediate consumption.
