The push to protect nursing home residents Delores Brown died nearly three years ago, after suffering a fall in a nursing home. The Illinois Department of Public Health later determined the facility was fault. But holding anyone accountable has been a challenge, WGN Investigates has found.“I’m very angry,” said Delores’ daughter, Chereese Brown. “Because you trust the facility to take care of your mom.”Last year, Chereese Brown filed a lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court claiming the facility “failed to protect” her mother and “properly train” its staff. But here’s where it becomes challenging. After Delores Brown died, the facility was sold and the former owners claim they have no money or insurance to settle the family's claim, said Steven Levin, Chereese Brown's attorney.“The difficulty in explaining this to families is immense,” he said. “The system is meaningless if they can just walk away.” Levin said Chereese Brown is not alone.Lori Levin’s mother died in 2022 after suffering a skull fracture while being transferr...

Heroes and Zeros from Broncos’ win over Buffalo Bills: Ja’Quan McMillian one season’s biggest surprises

Heroes and Zeros from Broncos’ win over Buffalo Bills: Ja’Quan McMillian one season’s biggest surprises Here are the heroes and zeros from Denver’s 24-22 win over the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium on Monday night.HeroesRussell Wilson: Vintage Russ was on display against the Bills. Facing a fourth-and-2 at Buffalo’s 7-yard line, Wilson sensed defensive end Shaq Lawson closing in. He rolled left, reverse spinned, then backpedaled before throwing a 22-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Courtland Sutton to take a 9-0 lead. The catch and throw were insane. But the fact that Wilson’s throw had a 3.2% completion probability, according to Next Gen Stats, made the play even more impressive. Wilson was efficient, completing 24 of 29 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns.Ja’Quan McMillian: Denver’s nickel cornerback has been one of the biggest surprise stories this season. Each week, McMillian has found a way to make an impact. On Buffalo’s first drive of the game, he stripped the ball from Bills running back James Cook and recovered it for one of the Broncos’ four takeaways. He finished...

Broncos four downs: Russell Wilson just cooked Josh Allen, Bills in their own dang kitchen Initial thoughts from Broncos’ Monday night visit to Buffalo in Week 10 at Highmark Stadium:1. Big Russ cooks: Russell Wilson just cooked Josh Allen in his own kitchen. And with arguably his worst throw of the night.Social media is going to have a field day with Big Russ’ underthrown ball to Jerry Jeudy that set up Wil Lutz’s game-winning 36-yard field goal — on the second try.But give the credit where it’s due: Wilson completed 24 of 29 pass attempts in one of the NFL’s most hostile environments (Although against a defense that’s pretty badly beat-up.)Wilson didn’t just make good decisions on the move — he looked pretty light on his feet. Wilson’s 31 rush yards were his most in a road game as a member of the Broncos. And the stats matched the eye test, whether it was stepping up in the pocket to evade the rush or working the zone read with tailback Javonte Williams.Related ArticlesDenver Broncos | Broncos lineup...
