One of the most significant aspects of Hispanic Heritage Month is the spotlight it provides on Latin and specifically Mexican contributions to entertainment and culture. The Hola México Film Festival presented by Toyota, has been doing so in exciting ways in conjunction, for the past 15 years. Running from September 29 – October 7, the event opens with a much-anticipated screening of Surviving My XV – a coming of age quinceañera comedy from director Chava Cartas that explores how long-held traditions endure even as they evolve into modern times. And there’s more: this year, the fest offers 19 films categorized in three groups: México Ahora (Mexico now) featuring new films; Documental (documentary) sharing real life stories and El Otro México (the other Mexico) spotlighting stories that don’t often get told from the Latin perspective, some previously seen and lauded at Sundance. Mexican filmmakers, Mexican subjects, and Mexican points of view are represented at Hola Mexico, from revol...House GOP holds first Biden impeachment hearing
