Chicago Fire FC promotes interim coach Frank Klopas to head role

CHICAGO — Chicago Fire FC have promoted interim head coach Frank Klopas into the full-time role.Klopas was named interim coach after Ezra Hendrickson was fired in May.The Greece native immigrated to Chicago with his family when he was eight years old. Klopas is a member of the club's Ring of Fire and is in the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame.He signed with the Chicago Sting straight out of Mather High School in 1983 and played for them through 1988. After playing for clubs in Greece and the Kansas City Wizards, Klopas was on the Chicago Fire's inaugural 1998 roster — which was able to win the MLS Cup.He went on the manage the club from 2011 to 2013 before moving onto the Montreal Impact from 2013-2015. Heisman finalists: LSU QB Daniels, Oregon QB Nix, Washington QB Penix Jr., Ohio St. WR Harrison Jr. Klopas was hired as an assistant coach with the Fire in 2020.The 2024 MLS schedule has not been released yet.Tuesday Forecast: Cloudy with rain likely, temps in low 40s

That's why the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Department is sharing tips to help seniors avoid credit card fraud and online shopping scams this holiday season. AUSTIN (KXAN) — An Austin Independent School District police officer was shot at Northeast Early College High School Tuesday, sources told KXAN. The high school, which is near U.S. 290, is on lockdown due to shots heard in the area, according to the school district. Austin ISD added the officer was injured during an altercation in the parking lot.Austin-Travis County EMS said in a social media post it received the call at 10:44 a.m. and "adult with non-life-threatening injury to a local trauma center. No additional patients have been, evaluated, treated or transported at this time." Sources told KXAN that the suspect is still at large. The Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas - a law enforcement union - posted on social media that the officer is a CLEAT member. The medical examiner identified on Tuesday a man killed in a Minneapolis shooting as a 34-year-old from Burnsville.Darius Renee Wilson died at East Lake Street and 12th Avenue South just after midnight on Monday. He was shot in the chest and was found by police on the sidewalk.A woman in her 40s had also been shot and was taken to Hennepin Healthcare with injuries that police said appeared non-life-threatening.Police said Monday there were several people outside and in the area when the shots were fired.No one was under arrest as of Tuesday morning, according to Minneapolis police. SCOTIA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Four people were helped by volunteers from the Northeastern New York Chapter of the American Red Cross after a fire early Tuesday on Glen Avenue. Chicken 'N Pickle is opening its first St. Louis-area facility in St. Charles on December 12. It will feature live music, giveaways, open-play pickleball, and family-friendly activities. They have released new renderings and details about the location.Located in the Riverpointe development, near the AMC Streets of St. Charles 8 Theatre, the complex covers 2.5 acres and includes 11 indoor and outdoor pickleball courts.
